Guest Information
These instructions will help you enjoy your stay on the island smoothly and safely. Please take a moment to read them when you arrive and settle in — especially before heating the baking oven, fireplace or sauna.
Wi-Fi
There is a router downstairs, usually with a well-functioning 5G connection. Internet use is free of charge. Video calls also usually work well over the connection. The password can be found on the bottom of the router and in the house folder.
Electric car charging
You can charge an electric or hybrid car using the Schuko / three-phase socket.
Baking oven and fireplace
Before lighting the baking oven, please open the dampers and switch on the chimney fan.
The dampers are located on the middle landing of the stairs. The two dampers on the right belong to the baking oven, and the ones on the left belong to the fireplace.
The chimney fan switch is located next to the window facing the sea. Please remember to switch the chimney fan off afterwards. Without the chimney fan, the oven does not draw as well and may produce smoke.
Close the dampers only when there are no red glowing embers left in the oven or fireplace.
Please clean the ovens and empty the ashes before you leave.
Only empty the ash into the ash bucket when it has cooled down completely. Ash can smoulder and catch fire even several days later.
Saunas
Please stay nearby while heating the sauna.
When you have finished using the electric sauna, leave it on for a short while so that the sauna can dry properly.
In the wood-fired sauna, add one or two logs to the stove when you finish bathing.
Boat fuel station
The boat fuel station is located on the opposite shore, at the end of Norrskatantie. The station is called Seapoint Kapteenska, and fuel can also be bought there in a canister.
When you leave the house
When leaving, please turn the HOME / AWAY switch to the AWAY position. The switch is located in the entrance hall, beside the door, below the electrical cabinet. This turns off the water pump.
Please check that all windows and doors are closed and locked.
Please take all your own rubbish with you when you leave, except for biowaste. Waste containers are located at the ferry harbour in Norrskata, where there is mixed waste only, and in Houtsala on Norrskatatie, where you will also find recycling for glass, metal and paper.
Only biowaste may be composted in the composter next to the garage. Please add a little dry compost material on top.
